Digitization not only promises more efficient operations and opportunities for new business models, it also increases the cost of protecting against hackers and data misuse. Larger companies employ IT professionals, for smaller companies, from painters to doctors, IT security is a challenge. This can already be seen in the relatively easy-to-manage topic of password management, where a lot of tinkering takes place. At the beginning of April, the German Insurance Association (GDV) published a study on how doctors, pharmacists and clinics deal with e-mails. 9 out of 10 practices used passwords that were easy to guess or none at all, and several employees used the same password. In 3 out of 5 clinics even e-mail and password combinations were found in Darknet.
